Spill out onto my lips
Trip past my chin to collect
Into a puddle in my lap,
Drowning my knees
In emotion, and memories
Of when you made them tremble.
When they went weak,
And I couldn't stop smiling,
And I felt stupid for being so happy.
Well my knees are forgetting
What it was to smile -
They're ready to run on city streets.
But my eyes keep saying what my knees forget
And I'm holding my tongue,
Trying to dry up the memory puddle.
Still something keeps spilling
From tears to tongue to truth,
And it turns out my knees are pretty good swimmers.
